At the border of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, nestled within the Bundelkhand ranges, stands the sacred mountain of Chitrakut — a name that purifies the mind simply upon hearing it. It was here that Rama, Sita and Lakshmana spent a significant portion of their years of exile. The banks of the Mandakini river, with their natural beauty, rich forest groves, serene environment and profound solitude, have long been considered among the finest settings for the practice and contemplation of renunciants.

It was on this sacred ground that the great Tulsidas, through the grace of Hanuman Swami, is said to have received the divine vision of Shri Rama and Lakshmana in their physical form.
It was here too that Bajarangdas chose his ground. Selecting a quiet valley within Chitrakut, he carved out a cave and seated himself in padmasana — the lotus posture — to begin his yoga sadhana in earnest. He was approximately 18 years of age at this time.
Absorbed in the rigorous discipline of physical and spiritual austerity, Bajarangdas brought together everything he had cultivated across his inner life — the paths of karmavad (selfless action), bhaktivad (devotion) and gyanvad (knowledge) — weaving them into a single, unified practice.
Bapasitaram 🙏
